SSRSB Teachers Talking about UDL

I have students in my room who struggle to read and having the iPads in my room has enabled them to have access to the reading material in audio format. While some students are silently reading in my rooms, others are reading by listening to the audio version of their text. This has really helped them to feel more comfortable in things like class or small group discussion because their struggle with reading the words is not holding them back anymore. While this seems like a very basic use, it really has helped many students in my English classes.  Sherrene Delaney ,Advanced Placement English 12 ,Advanced English 11 , English 12 , English 11

I've learned to loosen the reigns a bit when it comes to developing assignments and allow the students to play more of an active role in creating assessments and learning opportunities.

I have 22 students, 16 in grade 5 and 6 in grade 6. 4 LDs, students range from average to low average. Having a variety of ways to express themselves students see themselves as a capable of doing same work as their classmates. A student who previously did nothing with his classmates and spent most of the time out of the room now spends the entire day in the room and participates; because he now believes he can because he had the support of technology.  Kelly Brogan grades 5/6 all subjects except French

News stories: Using Showbie, my sewing students were able to photograph and send me their various design options. In turn, I was able to comment immediately on their progress. These photos will also make a great addition to upcoming newsletters. Barbara Rhodenizer Grades 7 - 12
